Harry Kalas died suddenly today at age 73. The team's offical website has a full report here.
[link]To paraphrase his longtime late broadcasting buddy Richie Ashburn, "Hard to believe."

Like so many other Philadelphians, I grew up listening to his voice and his was the one I most identified with Phillies baseball. Harry also lent his voice to NFL Films, college football, Chunky soup commercials, and Animal Planet's puppy bowl. He is known and loved all over the country and will be dearly missed. Without a doubt, this was the most tragic loss in the Philly sports broadcasting scene since Gene Hart from the Flyers organization died a decade ago.
BTW: I was hoping to visit Canada around the time of this month's TFCon in Toronto. But circumstances have forced me to postpone my trip by a few weeks. I still intend to ride Amtrak's Adirondack and Maple Leaf and spend some quality time in Montreal and Toronto. More later!
