It's usually a setup...something that looks too good to be true to be on Youtube. It may even start with footage of something else to totally mislead the viewer into a false sense of security. Then that tune starts and followed by the immortal lyrics: "We're no strangers to love...you know the rules and so do I."

I first stumbled across this looking up implosions of old baseball stadiums. Well, one entry promised footage of Yankees' Stadium's implosion. Small problem with that...that place is still standing and will be demolished conventionally because it's too close to other structures to be taken down with explosives. So I clicked on it to see what the gag was. Sure enough, it was Rick Astley and his corny '80s video. Since then, I've stumbled onto it a few more times. It might be intended to annoy people, but I've taken it in stride.

The true insidiousness of the Rickroll is that the song gets embedded in the brain at the mere mention of it. >_<

Of all the times I've been RickRolled, it was mostly intentional. The song is a genuine Earworm, so getting it out of your head is virtually impossible.

I still like the song, despite having heared it more times than I probably should have.
